Telluride Wedding Photographer | Telluride San Sophia Overlook

First things first, If you’ve never been to Telluride, Colorado , drop what you’re doing right now and make the trip.
If you’ve been to Telluride but never taken the gondola up to the top to see the San Sophia Overlook, you better sprint with some real swiftness because it is just waaaaaay too beautiful.
I’ve lived in Colorado my whole life and I can count on one hand how many times I’ve visited the beauty that is the San Juan Mountain Range… always for work which is just fine, but after spending the weekend here for Jess + Alex’s intimate wedding, I’ve put it high up on my list of places to visit in my own personal free time (hah who even has any of that though?)
I had the pleasure of meeting these two lovely humans at the reception of one of my past elopement couples in the early part of this year, they are actually two of the cutest and nicest and smartest people you can possibly know, so I was super excited when Jess reached out later that summer for me to photograph their teeny tiny wedding up in the mountains of Telluride with just their immediate family.
Fall in Colorado is probably one of the most beautiful of all the 50 states ( I may be biased…) but you really have to get lucky and get out to enjoy it quickly as the peak fall colors really only last about a week or so depending on where you’re at and will disappear as soon as the first snow + big winds come.
We caught the very last day of the fall colors as we watched the snow fall on the morning of their wedding day and got very lucky as the clouds started to lift juuuust enough to see some of the mountains that afternoon and it may not look it, but it was ABSOLUTELY freezing. a total of 10 degrees while we were doing their photos. but they rocked every second of it.
I’m so glad I was able to meet these amazing people, to spend such close quality time getting to know their family and to capture such beautiful moments for people that deserve them the most.
