Everything you need to know about weddings and elopements in Estes Park, Colorado

Estes Park has a little something for every couple. From the famous Stanley Hotel to the romantic Della Terra, there’s plenty more to this mountain town than just wood cabins and cozy lodges. You can discover new trails, local shops, lodging with fireplaces and hot tubs ideal for cold winter evenings, and plenty of space in the back country to soak up those summer nights under the stars. In the case that you’re going for a picturesque mountain wedding, Estes Park is the ideal spot to give your visitors a unique taste and feel of Colorado. Rocky Mountain National Park draws more than 4 million guests every year, and all things considered, the mountains here are simply better.

Where to Elope in Estes Park

Rocky Mountain National Park

Elopements and Weddings in Rocky Mountain National Park are something truly unique and so so special. Over the last 7 years, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing over 50 elopements all over RMNP, and it never ceases to amaze me how vast and breathtakingly beautiful this park is. Rocky Mountain National Park is an outdoor, rustic, natural environment, you and any guests you bring are required to follow the Leave No Trace practices that protect the park’s resources and allow all visitors to enjoy. I’ll be updating the blog  with a whole guide specific to RMNP weddings, but wanted to include some of my favorite spots here as well.

rocky mountain national park elopements - where to elope in colorado - alchemycreative.net

Ceremony Locations in Rocky Mountain National Park

Within the park, there are 12 locations that permit wedding and elopement ceremonies (and no as of 2018, Dream Lake, Trail Ridge Road, etc. are not on the list). Rocky Mountain National Park also has a limit of 250 on the number of ceremonies permitted per calendar year (these permits are already completely sold out for 2022). It’s an incredibly popular place to tie the knot and for good reason, but don’t worry, I have a list of locations outside of RMNP for ceremonies and we can ALWAYS head into the park for as many photos as we want!

 Lily Lake

Lily Lake is rarely my go-to out of all the locations for an elopement in Rocky Mountain National Park because it is so easily accessible, it tends to attract a lot of visitor traffic. That being said, this spot makes for a beautiful off venue location or a wonderful spot for portaits. If you’re looking to elope at this location, definitely consider a weekday!

BEHIND THE LENS

MEET BRittany

Photographer, mother, eternal optimist - most inspired by music, the great outdoors, and you.

I’m Brittany! mother to a couple blue-eyed, wicked smart kids– tattoo haver – red lipstick wearer – total moment junkie – married to the actual best person on planet earth – whatever the opposite of a green-thumb is *r.i.p every plant i’ve ever owned*
eternally optimistic. perpetually cold. hair + makeup artist. still-storyteller. beholder of beauty. colorado native with a heart that is set on fire in the great outdoors.
lover and documentarian of life + love (and everything that comes along with it)

Tell-tale signs that I may be a good fit for you and your love:
because you’re a night-owl and a morning person, because you enjoy the quiet sound of snow falling. because you find inspiration in just about anything. because you like your music loud and your hugs long. because you’re a big fan of the written word. because it’s never too late for things like “i love you’s” and a piece (or 3) of dark chocolate. because kitchens and living rooms make for the best dancing. because honesty. because flowers for no reason at all. because love is big and wonderful and important and the most beautiful choice you get to make. because kindness.because netflix marathons. because tears from hard laughter.because hard work feels good. because friends who feel like family. because spontaneous road trips to anywhere. because gifs and baby animals.
because viewing my work makes you feel almost as happy as I feel creating it.
and because to me, telling your unique story, capturing your day, would be an honor.
If your love is BIG fat loud messy, imperfectly perfect, hilarious, dreamy, mountain moving, almost annoying its so good, kind of love. You get me and I get you. Love is a big deal and documenting all the big and seemingly tiny moments, is what I do best.

Whether you’re celebrating with a big affair or keeping it intimate with an elopement, capturing YOUR kind of love is what I strive for.
